Call for Papers for the First Conference of the European Society of Historical Demography (ESHD)
19-21 February 2014, the LINKS project will organise the workshop 'Population Reconstruction'. The workshop will be held at the International Institute of Social History in Amsterdam.
At the International Institute of Social History (IISH) in Amsterdam, Working Group 4 – Extraction software for IDS organised a workshop on 16-17 October 2013. Working Group 7 – Education held a meeting on 19 October. The EHPS-Net Steering Committee came together on 18 October.
The project aims to analyze the long term societal impact of the First World War in Belgium through a bottom-up analysis of selected social groups: (1) veterans and war orphans, (2) pro-German collaborators and resistance fighters, and (3) forced labourers and war widows.
On behalf of the project partners, Gunnar Thorvaldsen let us know that the Norwegian Research Council has funded the construction of a Historical Population Register for Norway. The group will receive a grant of 25 million Norwegian kroner.
The Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), via its Center for Humanities and Social Sciences (CCHS) introduces the Historical Spatial Data Infrastructure of the City of Madrid (HISDI-MAD).
15-17 May 2013 Working Group 9 – GIS and Working Group 10 – Extended IDS met for workshops in Lund, Sweden.
From 31 January to 5 February 2013, the Working Groups 6,7 and 8 organised workshops at the Croatian Institute of History in Zagreb.
In the summer of 2013, the European Historical Population Samples Network (EHPS-Net) and the Babeş-Bolyai University (Cluj-Napoca, Romania) organized an International Summer School on Historical Demography.
Antoinette Fauve-Chamoux, Sølvi Sogner and Kees Mandemakers were awarded with a medal of the Babeş-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca.
